WHY NO-GI JIU-JITSU?

No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu is one of the fastest-growing martial arts in the world. Unlike traditional Gi-based training, it highlights speed, adaptability, and real-world application without relying on the grips of a kimono. This makes it a powerful choice for self-defense, modern competition, and overall fitness. Training without the Gi teaches you to rely on leverage, positioning, and timing instead of strength or size, skills that carry over both on and off the mats.

At Connecticut Submission Grappling, our entire academy is dedicated to No-Gi training because we believe it is the most practical, versatile, and approachable style of grappling. Our classes are held in a clean and welcoming environment where safety and respect come first. Beginners appreciate the supportive structure that makes learning easier, competitors value the direct connection to tournament success, and fitness seekers enjoy a challenging but safe way to get stronger, faster, and more confident.

The Benefits of Training with us at CONNECTICUT SUBMISSION GRAPPLING

Training at CSG is different because every class is rooted in 100% live No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu. That means you build skills that work under pressure, in real time, against fully resisting partners. The benefits go beyond learning techniques — they extend into how you move, how you think, and how you carry yourself in daily life.

One of the most immediate benefits is fitness that feels real. Live training pushes your cardio, strengthens your body, and sharpens your coordination without relying on treadmills or repetitive gym routines. Each session is a workout that challenges your endurance while also developing functional strength, balance, and agility.

Another benefit is confidence through experience. When you learn to stay calm and think clearly while sparring against different opponents, you gain a quiet confidence that carries over into work, school, and life. Knowing that you can defend yourself and adapt under pressure changes how you approach challenges outside the academy.

CSG also offers the benefit of a structured learning path for every level. Beginners thrive in our Foundations program, which introduces live games in a controlled environment, while advanced athletes are pushed in our All Levels classes with longer rounds and standing engagement. You’re never out of place, no matter where you start.

Community is another key benefit. Our open mats bring in new training partners weekly, keeping training fresh and exposing you to different styles. Our women’s-only class provides a safe and supportive space where women can train together for free, strengthening both skills and community.

Finally, the biggest benefit is that at CSG, you learn what really works. No wasted time. No empty drills. Only live training that adapts with you and makes your grappling sharper, your body stronger, and your mindset more resilient.
